This was the first message that appeared when the device was switched on (with the middle button).
It says:
Hi Réka! This box contains a great treasure. In order to get it, you must go through seven challenges.
When viewing the first challenge it asks that you bring it outside (and wait a little so it can get a GPS fix)
After getting a GPS fix, it displays the distance from a specific point:
In the beginning it showed a map like this:
The little girl on the left slowly advanced on the road as Réka found the points. After finding and visiting the last one the map looked like this:
The box opened (now without the ring):
This ring was waiting inside:
She said yes :).
I proposed to Réka (my girlfriend) with this mysterious box. It took her two weeks to open.
This is a small wooden box that is latched from the inside. It has 3 buttons, a small OLED display, a microUSB charging port and a 4 pin service port on the bottom. The electronics consists of an Arduino nano, a GPS, a powerbank and an RC servo.
The box gave instructions to Réka so she could visit 7 places in Hungary that mean something for us. It opened at the last location and revealed the engagement ring which was waiting there from the beginning. I proposed to her and she said yes :).
The original reverse geocache box was constructed by Mikal Hart
